frequently asked questions

when should I book my senior portrait session?

You should book your session at least 3 months in advance to make sure the date you want is available! This will also give you time to pick your outfits and locations for your shoot without feeling rushed. October, November, April, and May book up quickly - fill out an inquiry form below if you want to reserve your date!

where should I go for my senior portraits?

I have a list of recommendations I send out to seniors based on the "vibe" you're looking for. You'll also want to think about the temperature, your outfits, and personality! I'm happy to give you some ideas or go somewhere that's special or interesting to you.

do you travel for senior portraits?

YES! I mainly photograph southern Indiana senior portraits and Kentucky senior portraits, but I love to travel and would be happy to plan for a destination senior portrait session anywhere you want to go!

how many outfits and locations can I pick for my session?

You can have 2 outfits and 2 locations - a lot of seniors like to pick a more casual look and a more dressy one. Click here for some Pinterest inspiration!

what if I don't feel comfortable or know how to pose in front of the camera?

Relax, I've got you! You can check out my Pinterest board or instagram for ideas from other sessions. Looking at poses you like and practicing at home is a great way to prepare. During your session, I'll show you exactly what to do so you don't have to feel awkward! I'll be giving you tons of compliments to boost your confidence and help you enjoy the experience.

what if the weather is bad the day of my session?

I'm happy to reschedule your session to the next available date and time we're both available at no extra charge. Typically, I check in a few days before if the forecast isn't great to start thinking of good alternate dates.

are senior portrait sessions only outdoors?

Not always! I've done some really fun senior portrait sessions indoors at the Brown Hotel, Jimmy Can't Dance, Speed Art Museum, and Louisville Cream, to name a few. It's your session, let's go where you want to go!!!

will I get to pick the images I want to keep from my session? what happens to the rest?

All of the "keepers" will be uploaded to your gallery (click here to see some recent senior portrait galleries). You can easily choose and download your favorites from there. If you end up wanting even more of your images, you'll have the option to purchase the entire gallery or purchase individual additional images from the gallery site. All of your images will stay on the gallery for 1 year after your session, and after that they'll be archived on to my backup drives.

can I order announcements and albums later on if I don't get them now?

Absolutely! You can customize any package or order them later on down the road. I create custom graduation announcements and arrange albums based on the images and style you want.

why do I love senior portrait photography?

Working with high school and college seniors has been a passion of mine mainly because I was also a high school teacher! Today's seniors are SUCH hard working students and I love to learn what each of them is passionate about. It's so important to celebrate this huge milestone in their lives! Senior portraits are a chance for seniors to show their personality and be themselves. For families, this is such a great memory to have of their style and their love for life.
