Indoor Portrait Studios in Louisville for Headshot and Brand Sessions

Loft Creative Studios
Loft Creative Studios is located in Downtown Louisville on Museum Row. It’s located on the 4th floor of a quiet building (elevator access) and has street parking with meters available in the vicinity.
This is by far my favorite studio for several reasons: first, there are four unique spaces available for indoor portrait sessions.

Street View at Loft Creative Studio
The Street View space (Studio 1) has mounted paper backdrops with a variety of color options available. There are also several large rolling backdrops with textured surfaces for easy background changes and versatility. Large windows allow plenty of natural light, which can be controlled with the sheer curtains.

River View at Loft Creative Studio
The River View Space (Studio 3) has a large wall with an arch, a dining room table, faux tree and upscale furniture as well as large windows with sheer curtains and a view overlooking the Ohio River.
Loft Creative Studios also has a changing room with a garment rack and steamer, so you can comfortably change or dewrinkle your outfits. It also has a large prop room, which you can use to customize the space you rent with unique seating options, table decor, and more.

Bright Studio Lou
Bright Studio Lou is located in a quiet area of Old Louisville. This is the most easily accessible studio as it is first floor only, with free street parking available out front.
This space is simple, which makes it a blank canvas. There is one rolling backdrop wall (black on one side, peach on the other), as well as one wall with a large garage door with opaque panels that lets natural light in. On the street-facing side, there are large windows that are covered with sheer curtains for privacy, while allowing natural light to fill the studio.
There are several stools, a stylish leather couch, a disco ball, and typically themed seasonal props available for guests to use. A single person restroom is also available to change or check yourself in the mirror.
Studio on Oak
While I have not photographed in this space yet, I have been to Studio on Oak! It’s located off of Baxter Avenue. This is another minimalist studio space that is wonderful because it’s a blank canvas.
It has large “garage doors” with windowpanes that allow natural light and fun shadows for more artistic portraits. While the space itself is completely neutral, they also have several backdrop options, couches, and stools available to use.

Louisville Photography & Content Studio
Located in part of an old church in Germantown, the Louisville Photography & Content Studio space has TWO content studios available for hourly rental for indoor headshot and brand photos!
Studio A has a wide selection of colorful paper backdrop options available, so you’ve got plenty of options for your session.
Studio B has 5 sets in one space that feature more upscale furniture, paneled wall backdrops, and plenty of props and accessories to create your own scene.
While there is a free parking lot available, this studio is on a third floor with stair access only- something to keep in mind if accessibility is an issue or if you have a lot of accessories to transport for your session!
Now, the question you’re asking yourself is…
Is it worth renting a studio for my headshot or brand session?

I photograph plenty of corporate headshots on-site in small offices with portable backdrops, so if you’re looking for close-cropped images and have a space we can use for portraits, that is always an option!
In my professional opinion, if you’re going to invest time and money on your photos, hair and makeup, your outfit and self care…you might as well rent a studio. This saves you from having to clean your house or office, eliminates disruptions to the rest of your team, and lowers photo anxiety (because no one else from your office will be watching).
These studios have beautiful natural light, amenities like props and furniture so that we can create a professional scene without the real clutter of an office or awful fluorescent lights to worry about.
And now, for the last important detail you need to know…

How much time you’ll need for your session
Studios typically rent by the hour. Even if you only need a few final images, I generally recommend 1 hour for a standard headshot session, and 2 hours minimum for a lifestyle or personal brand session with multiple outfit changes.
It’s worth mentioning that it probably won’t take that long to get the photos you need. You actually need more time for everything outside of taking the photos:
- Setting all your things down once you get into the studio
- Going through outfit order
- Final touches like steaming your attire, lint-rolling, etc.
- Using the restroom and checking your hair and makeup
- Time in between looks to change outfits, backdrops, or swap out props
- A few minutes at the end to pack everything up before leaving the studio
