The Parklands of Floyd’s Fork: A perfect place for a picnic

A summer picnic engagement session is the BEST idea when the wildflowers are blooming! If you’ve lived in Louisville for a while, you know the Parklands of Floyd’s Fork (also known as Beckley Creek) is one of the most beautiful parks in the area. It is one of the top requested spots for photoshoots and engagement sessions!

In the summertime, there are beautiful wildflowers everywhere. Claire and Marc chose this spot for their engagement session, and I’m so glad they did! They brought along their two dogs, Huck and Finn, who were so sweet. Claire’s mom and sister helped with the dogs and packed a picnic basket for them to enjoy in their photos.

Beckley Creek Engagement Photos

The sun was still very high (June in Kentucky can be miserable, even at 8 p.m.!), so we started near the creek for a few photos with Claire, Marc, and the dogs.

Picnic Engagement Photos

I highly recommend doing what they did – plan a fun activity for your engagement session. It makes your session more like a date night! These two were so easygoing and I so enjoyed spending time with them. Having someone there to carry things and assist with the dogs is extremely helpful! Plus, I think people really enjoy seeing the couple have their photos taken. Claire and Marc enjoyed a red wine with some brie and strawberries, what a perfect combination!

After their picnic, we went over to one of my favorite spots where they could walk with Huck and Finn. The winding paths of the Parklands with lush, tall grass are perfect for a romantic stroll with the dogs. The sky was just stunning and we had perfect timing for a few sunset photos with them!
