Searching for the perfect venue for your spring wedding in Louisville, Kentucky? Spring in Louisville is peak wedding season because of the beautiful flowers in bloom, but it’s also notorious for unpredictable weather. That’s why your wedding venue needs to have indoor AND outdoor options to accommodate your guests in case of spring showers or storms.

This list describes the top 10 Louisville wedding venues that all have indoor and outdoor capacity for your spring wedding!

The Speed Art Museum in historic Old Louisville is an elegant, artsy, and romantic venue perfect for spring weddings. Couples have their ceremonies in the atrium, which features glass windows from floor to ceiling with breathtaking views of the greenery and spring blooms outside. Even in case of rain, you’ll get a taste of the outdoors from the comfort of indoors.

Guests will have plenty to do, with cocktail hour typically being the ideal time for guests to explore the various galleries, and couples love to have artistic portraits taken among the timeless pieces of art.

On a sunny spring day, the museum’s modern exterior makes a perfect backdrop for group photos, and you’re also within driving distance to the nearby St. James Court Fountain for wedding photos.

The spring is my absolute favorite season for weddings at Whitehall Historic Mansion and Gardens. The lush hydrangeas, colorful gardens and ivy-covered gate are all a sight to behold. The interior of Whitehall Mansion features many historic rooms that are beautiful for getting ready photos, family and wedding party portraits.

Whitehall has a permanent white tent set up outdoors, so you don’t have to worry about a rain plan…it’s built in to your venue. Couples love to get married in the courtyard beyond the ivy gate, host their cocktail hour in the gardens, then enjoy their reception al fresco under the spacious tent, which seats approximately 250 guests.

For more intimate weddings or those who prefer indoors, around 75 guests can comfortable be seated for dinner, and I’ve even seen ceremonies take place on the front porch on a romantic, rainy day.

One of my personal favorite venues that brilliantly fuses together nature with modern architecture is Waterfront Botanical Gardens. Conveniently located near Downtown Louisville, the gardens have everything you could want for a spring wedding – beautiful designed gardens that make a stunning photo backdrop, creative seating options, ample parking, and an indoor space.

Say your vows in front of the waterfall sculpture and the Louisville Skyline in the background. Guests love to explore the pathways of the gardens and appreciate the flora and fauna with a cocktail in hand.

Sunset is especially magnificent at the Gardens for couple’s portraits, and you can watch the sky change colors from the Graeser Education Center, your reception space. The indoor space can fit up to 250 guests at round tables.

If you dream of a luxurious indoor wedding (think up to 500 guests), with optional outdoor spaces for photos, I recommend having your spring wedding at the Pendennis Club

The Pendennis has multiple floors with stately rooms, upscale decor and ample space for all your guests. This also makes it easier for your event team to set things up without having to flip the entire room.

Recently, I photographed an editorial-inspired wedding at the Pendennis that featured absolutely stunning florals to celebrate spring. We had so many unique rooms to take photos in, that we didn’t need to venture outside in the May heat and humidity or have to worry about the rain.

Over the last few years, Gardencourt has quickly become one of my personal favorite venues. It’s located very close to Cherokee Park. Its sunroom with black windowpanes is a romantic spot for a first look especially on a rainy day. The ivy-covered walkway, massive pillars and back patio give you so many options for creative couples portraits or photos with your wedding party.

The reason I love Gardencourt so much as a spring wedding venue is that couples can have an outdoor ceremony, and guests can spend time outside on the lawn during cocktail hour. Indoors, multiple historic rooms are the setting for your reception tables (total seating around 160), and Hundley Hall is your dance floor!

Don’t hesitate to tour this venue, because it’s truly a hidden gem most couples don’t know about.

A couple looks at each other during their ceremony at Hazelnut Farm

A quick getaway outside of the city, Hazelnut Farm is a hidden gem for couples who want a scenic view and a venue with indoor options, covered outdoor spaces, and open-air options. Every time I visit Hazelnut, I’m even more impressed with the improvements they make for couples to enjoy their wedding.

Hazelnut Farms is an all-inclusive venue, which means that your rental includes just about everything you could need – tables, chairs, catering kitchen, on-site staff, parking, plenty of restrooms, and so much more! https://www.hazelnutfarmevents.com/inclusions

In the springtime, couples love to have their ceremony on the covered porch to be on the safe side in case of rain. Alternatively, you can have your ceremony on the spacious lawn with an incredible backdrop of the pond and the treeline behind you.

If your dream wedding venue checklist includes Kentucky charm, horses, an estate, a greenhouse, and an upscale farm-to-table dining experience, you need to have your wedding at Hermitage Farm. Located in Goshen, Kentucky, this is a unique location that feels luxurious, historic, and rustic all wrapped up in one.

Hermitage Farm can accommodate intimate weddings, or large weddings up to 130 guests with a dance floor. They have multiple indoor spaces, including their Greenhouse for intimate weddings and cocktail receptions, the Hayloft, which overlooks horse pastures, and the Main House, for an outdoor ceremony.

Your food and beverage experience will be a highlight – if you’ve ever eaten at their restaurant, Barn8, then you have a taste of the innovative farm-to-table menu you’re in store for with Hermitage’s exclusive catering.

Many couples have their ceremony outdoors in front of the horse pastures, with their ceremony in the Greenhouse, Hayloft, or Main House, depending on your guest count and desired aesthetic.

If a modern fairytale wedding is what you dream of, Yew Dell Botanical Gardens is the perfect place for your spring wedding. Located in Crestwood, KY, the gardens is spacious, secluded, and magical. The Yew Dell Castle and Garden Cottage are among couple’s favorite spaces for wedding party photos.

Your walkway into your wedding ceremony is the Holly Allée, a much-photographed row of holly trees that wow every visitor to the gardens. During cocktail hour, your guests can explore the grounds and later venture into the Gheens Barn for your reception, that seats up to 75 guests comfortably.

At night, dance under the string lights on the stone terrace with your spouse and all your loved ones. This is truly a perfect spring wedding venue that celebrates the beauty of nature.

A maid of honor gives a toast in the reception hall of Germantown Gables.

Nestled in the heart of Louisville’s Germantown neighborhood, Germantown Gables is an industrial venue that brings the garden INDOORS, as well as providing outdoor options with nods to nature.

Couples can have their ceremony outdoors on the terra-cotta tiled terrace with a modern noir backdrop of the surrounding buildings, colored with greenery. Inside the venue, there are two getting ready spaces, a bourbon lounge, and two large spaces that can be utilized for ceremonies and receptions.

The room typically used for receptions features decorative wooden doors, plus a backdrop of modern greenery that is an ideal spot for the head table. At night, guests love to spent time on the patio under the string lights while they enjoy a cocktail or cake.

You’ll be able to invite everyone on your list, because this venue is extremely spacious! This is a venue that has so much to offer in terms of space, amenities, and attention to detail.

Looking for a nontraditional, elegant, home away from home kind of venue? Mallard Hall Estate is a private venue that is perfect for you and guests to stay with amenities like valet parking, a pool, and tables and chairs already on the property.

When you tour Mallard Hall, you will want to LIVE here, not just have your wedding here! Expertly designed,  you might never get tired of going from room to room to see what’s around the corner. The Estate has natural light throughout the home (perfect for getting ready photos), a beautiful pond, a spacious pool and space for bar service, a covered grill, and so much more.

This estate can accommodate up to 150 guests for your wedding, and up to 16 guests can enjoy a two night stay when you reserve your wedding weekend here.

That concludes the list of the top 10 spring wedding venues in Louisville! If you’re looking for a wedding photographer or would like to see more photos from these venues, reach out through my website and I’d love to talk with you about your wedding!
